ADEPT contains over 40 solutions for the analysis of pumping test and slug test data. This Microsoft Windows application:
- Organizes the analytical techniques in a logical and efficient manner.
- Is an Electronic Handbook with hypertext links allowing the user to search for the desired technique by keyword, reference, index, or table of contents.
- Offers on-line help and allows easy peer-review to check for errors.
- Generates report-ready text output and technically-accurate graphics.
- Automatically interconverts any units supplied by user from English to SI and back. Input and output can be in mixed units.
- Uses linked-object embedding between Mathcad and other Windows applications, such as WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3.
ADEPT includes solutions for: unconfined, confined, artesian and leaky aquifers with partial penetration corrections - distance and time-drawdown analyses - five slug test techniques - safe yield, well efficiency, capture zone, and recharge basin analyses - drawdown analyses at constant-head boundaries - flowing well functions and fractured aquifer analysis. New and unique: three composite (t/r2) plot analyses.
ADEPT is an Electronic Handbook and operates within the Mathcad environment. The wide variety of analytical solutions in ADEPT takes full advantage of the linked-object embedding programming and on-line,
hypertext help features of Mathcad and Windows. All you have to do is point and click with the mouse cursor! Easily-interpreted, on-screen icons guide you through the analysis of your data by offering pop-up menus at every
step. At the top of most spreadsheets, a schematic of the relevant aquifer and test geometry appears. Just double-click on the schematic to see the references and the assumptions inherent in the technique.
ADEPT keeps track of all units internally! You can specify whatever units for input and output variables that you desire. Any analysis you perform is displayed right on the screen; the hydraulic estimate
appears next to the graph in any set of units that you choose. As an example of an ADEPT analysis, consider the analysis of slug test data from Cooper et al (1967) using their solution. You will see the type-curve change on the
graph as the normalized time and storage parameters are changed. Increasing the range multiplier brackets your data with type curves above and below the fitted curve. On the side, see the resultant transmissivity estimate in
any units you choose with the goodness-of-fit statistics next to it. Overseas Mathcad sales are through local distributors only. Distributor list available.
The main selling points for ADEPT versus its competitors are these:
- The cost per unit analytical solution available is less than $20 per technique.
- ADEPT is Windows-based. Being a Windows application allows ADEPT to share data and graphics between other Windows applications via OLE and DDE.
- ADEPT via Mathcad keeps consistent measurement units. You can never add feet and acres, for example. In fact, the user can enter any units for input and
have output in any set of units (English, SI or mixed). The program even converts to the proper consistent units if the user doesn't specify the proper units.
- The user can customize the graphs, units, and output of an ADEPT document and save it for later retrieval outside of ADEPT. The source code of ADEPT never
becomes corrupted by mistake.
- Hydrogeologists can cut-and-paste preprogrammed well functions from ADEPT and build their own Mathcad documents for their work or research.
- You can acquire drawdown data directly from the graph using the cross-hairs capability of Mathcad.
- Each ADEPT document comes with on-line help in the form of pop-up icons. Double-click on the appropriate icon and you will receive the pertinent help
message.
- If you need to know the reference and assumptions inherent in the technique that you had selected, double-clicking on the schematic icon at the top of the
ADEPT document would provide that information.
- ADEPT allows the user to find techniques through: the Table of Contents, the appropriate reference, the index listing of the solution, and searching ADEPT
for a keyword.
