WinLoG Cross-Section Features
Typically cross sections intersect several boreholes that may or may not be along a straight line. The stratigraphic information from the boreholes is combined
with other knowledge of the area to generate the cross section.
WinFence can be used to graphically create detailed, full-color, cross sections quickly and easily. The program can be used to interpret and map soil and rock
layers, contamination, fossils, minerals and hydrocarbons.
The creation and editing of cross sections is supported by the following features:
- No limit to the number of cross sections in a project.
- Selection of cross-section paths interactively in map view.
- Path line can be straight or bent.
- Well locations can be imported and exported to WinLoG.
- Additional well locations can be added.
- Cross sections can use data stored in WinLoG database to show lithologies, graphs, geophysical logs, samples, and well details at borehole locations.
- Cross sections can contain a title bar, legend, location map and scale bar.
- Legend and title bar of the fence diagram can be fully customized.
- Title bar can contain any number and type of data.
- Legend can contain lithologic symbols with standard or custom lithology descriptions.
- The strata to be shown and order of the strata in the legend can be adjusted for each cross section.
- Cross section can contain a location map as an inset showing the borehole locations and the pathline.
- Horizontal and vertical scales of the cross section can be specified or automatically fitted by the program.
- Cross sections can contain an unlimited number of boreholes and well logs.
- Cross sections can contain an unlimited number of layers, lenses, intrusions, faults, and alteration zones.
- Strata can contain descriptions that are shown in the legend.
- Strata boundaries can be connected by straight lines or a curve can be fitted to the boundary.
- Boundaries can be snapped to other layers, faults or intrusions.
- Layers can contain multiple segments and may be discontinuous.
- Points defining strata boundaries can be graphically edited and deleted.
- An unlimited number of lithologic symbols can be used to represent different strata; more than 100 are supplied with the program.
- The foreground and background colors of the strata can be specified.
- The size of the strata symbol can be adjusted.
- Strata definitions can be contained in the project or in the master database.
- Cross sections can be imported and exported using a text exchange format.
- Cross sections can be exported to the Windows clipboard, a bitmap file or a metafile.
- Standard Windows new, open, save and print commands.
- An unlimited number of floating paragraph text boxes can be added anywhere to a cross section.
The background and frame colors can be specified individually for each text box.
- An unlimited number of lines, arrows and rectangles can be added.
- An unlimited number of bitmap files can be imported into a cross section. These files can contain logos, site maps, sample pictures, etc.
